About Us
For more than 50 years, the Wyoming Weed and Pest Council (Council) has dedicated its resources and leadership to managing and limiting the spread of invasive species. The Council’s effort and commitment ensure that Wyoming remains a beautiful and pristine environment for outdoor enthusiasts and landowners.
OUR MISSION
The Council's mission continues to be to provide unified support and leadership for the integrated management of noxious weeds and pests to protect economic and ecological resources in the state of Wyoming.
HOW WE KEEP WYOMING
The Council leads invasive species management efforts, with a Weed & Pest District in each of the 23 counties in Wyoming implementing local initiatives through locally appointed boards, paid staff and volunteers. These initiatives aim to curb the spread of invasive species both locally and statewide.
The Council collaborates closely with the Wyoming Department of Agriculture and the University of Wyoming to stay up to date on the latest technology and research for managing noxious weeds and pests. This knowledge helps to inform the project plans implemented in each district.
AWARDS
In 1984, the Council proudly started giving awards to dedicated individuals who made a significant impact in managing invasive species in Wyoming. Over the years, the awards program has grown and now includes the Harold P. Alley Award, Everett Johnson Award, Archie Lauer Award, and the Guy Haggard Award.
