IPM

The Wyoming Weed and Pest Council had adopted Integrated Pest Management (IPM) as its approach to noxious weed control.  IPM refers to the use of multiple methods for control of weeds. Methods include chemical control using herbicides, biological control using plant pests, and cultural practices as in tillage or mowing.  For established noxious weed infested areas, utilization of multiple control strategies generally produces a desirable result.  The Council, as well as individual districts, strive to stay on the cutting edge of vegetation management to combat existing and new threats.  Partnerships with the Wyoming Department of Agriculture and the University of Wyoming help keep information and methodology up to date.  Early detection and rapid response (EDRR) is key for mitigating emerging weed problems.
