State Weed & Pest Job Openings
POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Laramie County Weed and Pest Control District Board of Directors are seeking a full-time employee for the position of “Supervisor”. This will be an exempt, at-will position with District benefits including health insurance and retirement plans. This position is salaried, starting at $60,000+ per year, depending on qualifications.
Position Requirements: An agricultural background with either an M.Sc. and/or B.S. degree in Weed Science, Entomology or closely related field, or a high school diploma with experience working in the field of Weed and Pest Management. Must be certified as a Weed and Pest Supervisor for the State of Wyoming or be willing to become certified within two years and have or be willing to obtain a Wyoming Commercial Pesticide Applicator’s License.
Personal Requirements: Applicant must be able to communicate with area landowners, federal, state, county and local agencies. Previous supervisory experience is desired. Applicant must be motivated with a strong work ethic. Enthusiasm for early detection/rapid response to weeds is essential. Applicant should be comfortable with map reading and familiar with GPS/GIS technology and have strong computer skills. Applicant needs to present a professional attitude.
Job Description: The individual will become the leader of a team whose mission is to carry out an effective weed control program for Laramie County. The supervisor will hire personnel, maintain a functional office, supervise the treatment program, conduct a public education program, assure compliance with State and Federal regulations, keep appropriate records, construct and maintain budgets, conduct contracting and bidding and maintain individual and inter-agency contacts.

Location: This position will be based out of Pine Bluffs, Wyoming, and will require work and travel throughout Laramie County.

Big Horn County Weed and Pest Control District Board of Directors are seeking a full-time employee for the position of “Assistant Supervisor”. This will be an exempt, at-will, full-time position with District benefits including health insurance and retirement plans. This position is salaried, starting in the range of $30,000 - $35,000 per year, depending on qualifications.
Position Requirements: A Bachelor of Science Degree in Weed Science, Crop Science, Range Management, Entomology or closely related field or equivalent work related experience in the field of Weed and Pest Management.

Job Description: The individual will become part of a team whose mission is to carry out an effective weed control program for Big Horn County. Because of the type of work required, employee must be flexible and willing to work long hours during the peak summer season. The employee will be responsible for conducting a Priority Weed program which will include extensive hiking with a backpack sprayer. Weed ID and plant identification skills are also essential.
